Lo Cantou begins with a simple idea: a home can hold more than things. A plate can carry the memory of a table, a copper pot the marks of a working kitchen, a glass the pleasures of an unhurried evening.
Gascony is the starting point for our selection. We are drawn to French objects of the 20th century — the everyday and the occasional, the practical and the decorative — chosen for their material, proportion and character.
Some pieces make a statement. Others settle quietly into a room, as if they had always belonged there. Both have a place at Lo Cantou.
How we assess vintage objects
We look for the details that reward a closer view: a maker’s mark, an expressive glaze, a well-shaped handle, the balance of a simple form.
Character and condition are separate questions. Our approach is to describe both clearly, so you can understand an object before deciding where it belongs. An approximate date should remain approximate; an unknown maker should remain unnamed.

The spirit of the atelier
