Vintage crystal chandelier & antique brass styles
A vintage chandelier can be restrained brass or a cascade of glass drops. For a vintage crystal chandelier, ask which drops are original, replaced or missing. When comparing antique chandeliers, start with the complete dimensions, ceiling height and suspension length.
Look closely at the frame, each arm and the point where the light is suspended. Replaced drops and later fittings belong in the condition report. A pleasing patina is part of the appeal, but it cannot establish age or electrical safety on its own.
Vintage wall sconces & French lighting
Vintage wall sconces bring light to the edges of a room. A pair can complement a French chandelier without repeating every detail of its design.
Check both pieces together: their height, projection and finish may vary. Ask to see the reverse, fixing points and electrical fittings as well as the decorative front. A matching appearance does not necessarily mean identical wiring.

Vintage brass lamp & antique brass lamps
A vintage brass lamp can bring warmth to a reading corner or balance a more decorative chandelier. Compare the base, shade proportions and the quality of the fittings before deciding where it will sit.
With antique brass lamps, ask which parts have been replaced and what electrical work has been documented. Patina is a visual quality; it does not establish the date or prove that the lamp is ready to use.
What to check before choosing lighting
Request the full hanging drop, frame diameter and photographs of the suspension point. List missing drops or altered fittings separately, and agree what electrical assessment is needed before installation.

Lighting: buying & care questions
How can I tell a vintage chandelier from a reproduction?
Consider construction, materials, maker’s marks and documented history together. Wear can be reproduced and components can be replaced, so a single feature is not proof. Ask for photographs of joints, the canopy and any marks.
Are French chandeliers ready for US installation?
Do not assume so. Wiring, sockets, grounding and mounting must be assessed for your home by a qualified electrician. Any inspection or rewiring already carried out should be stated for the individual piece.
How should a chandelier be packed?
Detachable drops and fragile fittings should be protected separately and labeled. The frame needs support that prevents movement without placing pressure on its arms. Packing and delivery arrangements depend on the size of the piece.
